ways to serve
UMCOR Sunday, March 11, 2018

UMCOR Sunday is a special Sunday that we celebrate each year on the fourth Sunday of Lent. The offerings given among United Methodist churches on this day will replenish UMCOR’s general fund in order to allow work to continue throughout the year.
UMCOR does not receive any regularly apportioned funds, so without these gifts, UMCOR could not guarantee that 100 percent of all other donations would go to specific relief projects. Because much of UMCOR’s ministry is first response to disasters around the world, UMCOR Sunday also ensures that funds are available immediately when needed.
Our support through UMCOR Sunday allows UMCOR and The United Methodist Church to respond quickly and effectively when disaster strikes.

Caring For Kids
On Tuesday, August 29, Pawnee Elementary and Valley View were recognized as one of two outstanding Caring for Kids partnerships in the Kansas City area! There are 7 school districts and 106 schools included in the Caring for Kids network. It is exciting to be recognized for our efforts.
As we begin this school year, there are ongoing opportunities to serve. We need financial support to provide food for students and to provide treats for teachers on in-service days. We need volunteers to help students, a coach for boys track, and work on various in-school projects. The school also needs used yoga mats, children’s book donations, children’s clothing and shoes, and outdoor games: Jenga, bean bag toss, and ladder toss. If you can assist, please contact Megan Williams at 681-1502 or firstname.lastname@example.org
