ways to serve

Caring For Kids

The Shawnee Mission School District is asking churches and businesses to sponsor a school in their Caring for Kids program- and Valley View is partnering with them in this mission. MVPs (My Volunteer Pal) are needed to listen while kids read to them, help with recess, be a lunch buddy, help in the classroom behind the scenes or with class parties, and/or be a mentor/tutor. If you are interested in being an MVP, you must attend a class, have a background check and be finger-printed. Men are needed the most, but anyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jeanette Grenz, jgrenz@sbcglobal.net.

Central UMC Cookout

Saturday, August 26

The Outreach Team, with the help of the United Methodist Men, are serving a Summer Cookout on August 26 for the community of Central United Methodist Church. To complete the menu, we need volunteers to make potato salad, pasta salad or macaroni salad. Please call if you can help with this mission project. Jeanne Smith, #913-825-1480
