ways to serve
Caring For Kids
On Tuesday, August 29, Pawnee Elementary and Valley View were recognized as one of two outstanding Caring for Kids partnerships in the Kansas City area! There are 7 school districts and 106 schools included in the Caring for Kids network. It is exciting to be recognized for our efforts.
As we begin this school year, there are ongoing opportunities to serve. We need financial support to provide food for students and to provide treats for teachers on in-service days. We need volunteers to help students, a coach for boys track, and work on various in-school projects. The school also needs used yoga mats, children’s book donations, children’s clothing and shoes, and outdoor games: Jenga, bean bag toss, and ladder toss. If you can assist, please contact Megan Williams at 681-1502 or email@example.com
Sheep Christmas Tree Ornaments
For Heifer Project
The Spanish word for sheep is “oveja.” We’ve been collecting coins and making ornaments to buy sheep for needy families in Ecuador. Our goal is to purchase at least two sheep through Heifer International before Christmas. You can help by collecting loose change and by putting one of our sheep ornaments on your Christmas tree for a suggested donation of $5. We’ll be selling them between services on December 3!
Sheep provide an impoverished family with wool to make clothes for their own family and enough additional wool to sell for additional income. Heifer International encourages recipient families to pay it forward by giving livestock offspring to others in need. Since sheep often have twins or triplets, our gift will help multiple families!
Adult Mission Trip March 2018
Are you interested in doing short term mission work? You are invited to attend an informational meeting in Fellowship Hall on January 7 following the Praise Service (at about11:30AM).
On March 11, we will travel to the UMCOR Midwest Mission Distribution Center located in Chatham, Illinois, near Springfield. The work is tailored to your ability, so anyone can help. Visit www.midwestmissiondc.org to learn more about the Distribution Center.
